Now would be a good time to do it. I got the guitar today, and like 2 hours of trying to tune the damn thing only led to me snapping one of the strings. The G *ahem* string (yes, yes laugh now) to be precise. Sianz. Sianz Si bei Sianz.
Anyone out there knows how to use a digital tuner? Mine is the Qwik Tune and I can't seem to get it right. Or maybe I'm just not good enough now... Sigh.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I've snapped my guitar strings before.
What I do, if I feel that the string is wound too tight and it's still not reaching the note it needs to be at, is to loosen the string, then retighten it again. Do it a couple of times if it's still too tight. It should help.
Otherwise, get ur bro to tune it for you lah
